Steve Jobs personal items including his wallet (with his yearly salary in it!), 2 iMacs and 3 iPads returned after theft

We told you earlier about the burglary at Steve Jobs’ home this past month. The Daily reports on the items missing and the suspect.
Wearing work gloves, McFarlin set down lawn furniture cushions outside the perimeter of the home in order to safely toss his take including: two iMacs, three iPads, one Apple TV, a Sodastream soda maker and various Tiffany jewels before fleeing away in his car.
The jewelry McFarlin lifted was the bulk of the heist’s value, totaling nearly all of the $60,000 in value. Jobs’ wallet, including credit cards and $1 (his famous yearly salary), was also part of the heist.  Laurene Powell Jobs was staying nearby while the renovations were being done.
The suspect, McFarlin, did not seem to realize he was in Jobs’ home. McFarlin said he was in dire straits with money and “he was desperate.”
McFarlin told cops that he had been living in his car and had chanced upon the abandoned Jobs home while sleeping on the street there. He decided it would be the target of his first burglary. Before the heat was on, the novice McFarlin quickly Googled how to fence the jewelry.
He was caught when trying to plug in the Apple equipment and the devices “called home” for software updates.

Complete 'iPhone 5' Front Panel and 4" Screen Photos

UBreakiFix has received these photos of the full front panel of the next generation iPhone from one of their distributors.

The parts don't appear to be particularly revealing. We've seen similar componentsbefore with the exception of a close look at the new iPhone's LCD screen.

The new screen is said to have increased to 4" in diagonal (up from 3.5") while preserving the same pixel density as the current iPhone design. This would provide apps with additional screen space to fill. UBreakiFix also provided a zoomed in photo of the top area with serial numbers and LCD connector.

The new iPhone is expected to be launched on September 12th.

Apple's iPad Mini: Thinner, Lighter and Narrower

A trio of reports out today is beginning to pin down some more rumored details for Apple's smaller "iPad mini", suggesting that the device will carry a narrower profile than previously thought and perhaps match the iPod touch's 7.2 mm thickness.

The first report comes from 9to5 Mac, which claims that the iPad mini will "look like a big iPod touch", with narrower bezels along the sides of the device paired with more traditional, thicker bezels at the top and bottom.
This iPod touch-like design makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons. For one, when compared to the Nexus 7 (and Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab 7, RIM Playbook, etc.), this would give the iPad mini a similar, “purse-able,” and “big pocket-able” form factor but with a larger 4:3 display. The lack of a bezel on the sides will make it easier to hold too.
The report goes on to speculate that the iPad mini will offer at least a front-facing camera and perhaps LTE connectivity on some models, and a lack of significant part leaks suggests that the device may not be ready to begin shipping for several more months.

The second report comes from iMore, which backs up the earlier report and offers its own thoughts on the iPad mini's design, as well as a rendering of the rumored device.
Based on several sources, I believe that design to be an accurate representation of what the iPad mini will look like. In addition, it's my understanding that it will be the exact same thinness as the iPod touch, which is substantially thinner than the 9.7-inch iPad. The quick mockup [below] shows what I believe are accurate proportions for the iPad mini compared to the 9.7-inch iPad and the current generation iPod touch 4.

Finally, Daring Fireball's John Gruber shares his thoughts on the device, including his belief that some of the leaked rear shell photos may indeed be genuine given the similarities seen among several independent leaks. Gruber goes on to argue in support of the narrower side bezels, noting that with the device falling in between the full-size iPad and the iPod touch its design is likely to similarly fall somewhere between the two existing devices.
The iPad 3 — the whole device, not just the display — measures 241.2 × 185.7 mm. Divide and that comes out to roughly 1.3, which is very close to the aspect ratio of the iPad display (1.333…). [...]

That’s not true for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The iPhone 4S is 115.2 × 58.6 mm; divide and you get roughly 1.97 — far different proportions than the 1.5 (3:2) aspect ratio of the display. Again, just look at it.

Should not the iPad Mini fall somewhere in between?
Gruber goes on to perform some calculations estimating the size of the iPad mini at roughly 200 x 135 mm, only slightly larger than Google's Nexus 7 despite having a screen 0.85 inches larger diagonally, a feat made possible by the narrow side bezels on the iPad mini.

But with a thickness in line with the iPod touch, the iPad mini would be one-third thinner than the Nexus 7 and thus encompass roughly one-third less volume and one-third less weight. Comparing this to the Nexus 7's weight of 340 grams, Gruber suggests that the iPad mini could weigh just 265 grams, marking a major weight savings over the full-size iPad while still retaining a reasonable display size.

Details on Apple's release plans for the iPad mini remain up in the air, but iMore appears to be standing by its earlier claim that the device will be introduced at Apple's iPhone media event reportedly set for September 12. Unlike the next-generation iPhone, it will likely be a fair amount of time before the iPad mini actually launches, with the company likely to begin ramping production to achieve availability just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Translated To English : iPhone 5: Is it the motherboard of the New iPhone?!

A French based website posted about the new leaked part of the next gen iphone, but wasn't in English. Well That's the reason of this post, So here is what it said......

It would appear that after the shell , the facade , the drawer smartcard Nano-SIM ,
the new connector and many other parts presented as being designed to fit the
iPhone 5 , it is the turn of the the motherboard of the latter to be unveiled before its time
using the forum Chinese Weiphone...
For starters, the format of this motherboard is broadly similar format to those that Apple's
practice is to install in its smartphones, but it is not sufficient to enable us to assert that
this has actually been produced for the behalf of the company from Cupertino. If you look
closer, further details that I highlighted on the picture below to leave their share little room
for doubt ...
As you will be able to realize through the small assembly that I have created,
properly positioned the motherboard inside the hull that the general view is that of
the iPhone 5, the five brands interest us are placed exactly facing five attachment
points of the famous hull!

iPhone 5 logic board pictures "leaked"

After the latest leak of the sim tray of the iphone, now here comes The Box. Have a look at it.!

(Credit: Weiphone.com)
After leaking the upcoming iPhone's nano-SIM tray, French site nowhereelse.fr has spotted pictures of what appears to be the next iPhone's logic board. These originated from a Chinese forum and interestingly, the board screw holes line up with previously leaked cases.
Unless this is a deliberate sting attempt by Apple to find out who has been leaking information, it looks like this bit of information about the next iPhone would turn out to be true. Macrumors also points out the person accurately leaked last year's iPhone 4 logic board, too.
It's a shame, however, that the metal shielding covering the processor was not removed, which means no one is able to verify whether the next iPhone will be using a dual- or quad-core processor.
The iPhone has, for the last two times, used a downclocked version of the iPad processor, so we could be looking at a phone loaded with the A5X. Unless there's more information, it looks like we'll have to wait till the rumored upcoming September 12 event to find out for sure.

How the next-generation iPhone with taller display may position landscape keyboard

Earlier this week, we broke the news that Apple’s upcoming version of iOS 6 is fully scalable and aware of taller, larger iPhone displays. The display resolution of 1136 x 640, a resolution we first reported in May that Apple is testing for future iPhones, shows a seemingly perfectly tweaked version of iOS 6. As we revealed earlier, this means five rows of home screen icons and tweaked native app user-interfaces.
We have been playing around more with the iOS simulator, which we tweaked to work on different resolutions, and we noticed some additional notable UI changes for the taller resolution. As we noted several months ago, the 1136 x 640 resolution on the next-generation iPhone will mean that the display comes in just around at a 16:9 proportion, an uncommon resolution for a mobile phone. Because of this, some have wondered how certain user-interface elements would be presented.
Many interface elements that are displayed while using the iPhone in vertical orientation will remain unchanged. The most important element, perhaps, is the iPhone’s keyboard. In portrait/vertical view, the keyboard on the next-generation iPhone will likely not change.

However, in landscape, it will:

Photos of purported next-gen iPhone’s thinner, higher capacity battery: 3.8V, 1440 mAh

As the launch of the next iPhone approaches, lots of  parts have been leaking out  and we’ve been able to put the pieces together almost like a reverse iFixit teardown. Over the course of the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen internal components and LCD parts making their way into the hands of iOS device parts suppliers. The most notable part leaks this year were the back plates of the new iPhone. We posted the first photos of these in May. Those new parts revealed an all-new thinner enclosure, metal design, smaller dock connector, and various other next-generation iPhone attributes.
Today, a reliable parts source (via 9to5Mac contributor Sonny Dickson) sent us images of new iPhone battery packs that they received. Notably, these new battery packs sport a higher capacity than the packs in previous generations of Apple’s smartphone. This new battery features a capacity of 1440 mAh. That is up from the capacity of 1430 mAh on the iPhone 4S and up from 1420 mAh on the iPhone 4, according to iPhone repair shop iFixYouri, whom examined the battery photos.

Claimed SIM Tray for Next-Generation iPhone Points to Nano-SIM Standard

In line with recent claims that European carriers have been stockpiling nano-SIMs with some carriers even working with Apple to test the new, smaller cards ahead of the next-generation iPhone launch, Nowhereelse.fr shares [Google translation] a set of comparison photos showing what is claimed to be a nano-SIM tray for the next iPhone next to the current micro-SIM tray used in the iPhone 4S. If the part is legitimate, it indeed confirms that Apple will be using the smaller SIM card form factor that it worked to push through standards approval earlier this year.

With new photos of the next-generation iPhone's SIM tray in hand, we have reexamined the photos from early May of what was also claimed to be the device's SIM tray, and we now believe that we were incorrect in our initial assessment that that part represented a micro-SIM tray nearly identical to that found in the iPhone 4S. While those photos did not show the side of the tray that holds the SIM card, the overall dimensions of the tray are in a ratio of roughly 1.55-1.6. This is in line with what is seen on the new nano-SIM tray shown by Nowehereelse.fr and different from the iPhone 4S micro-SIM tray that has dimensions in a ratio of approximately 1.37. The nano-SIM card itself has dimensions in a ratio of 1.4, compared to a ratio of 1.25 for the larger micro-SIM.

Consequently, it indeed appears has indeed been planning to use its proposed nano-SIM standard in the next-generation iPhone for a numbers of months, even before the standard was approved by the European Telecommunications Institute (ETSI).

Today's report also shares photos of what are claimed to be the white and black versions of the home button for the next-generation iPhone, and these photos are in line withpreviously-leaked photos from late April that represented the first of a number of part leaks claimed to be for the upcoming iPhone.

Apple comments on Gizmodo/Wired writer’s account hacking, here’s how it went down…

Mat Honan wrote up his whole story over at Wired. The scariest part is that they were able to reproduce the hack using two pieces of publicly available information and a phone call.
We talked to Apple directly about its security policy, and company spokesperson Natalie Kerris told Wired, “Apple takes customer privacy seriously and requires multiple forms of verification before resetting an Apple ID password. In this particular case, the customer’s data was compromised by a person who had acquired personal information about the customer. In addition, we found that our own internal policies were not followed completely. We are reviewing all of our processes for resetting account passwords to ensure our customers’ data is protected.”
On Monday, Wired tried to verify the hackers’ access technique by performing it on a different account. We were successful. This means, ultimately, all you need in addition to someone’s email address are those two easily acquired pieces of information: a billing address and the last four digits of a credit card on file. Here’s the story of how the hackers got them.

Apple Comes out with a new iPad Tv ad

Apple today posted a new television ad for the new iPad called "All on iPad". The ad is identical in style to Do It All which was released in June. The Retina Display remains a focus, with a number of different apps sharing the spotlight.
Read it. Tweet it.
Be surprised. Be productive.
Make a sale. Make some lunch.
Make it movie night.
Play a game. Or an old favorite
Do it all more beautifully, with the Retina display, on iPad.
This is the third television spot that Apple has released for the 3rd generation iPad.

The ad comes shortly after a new and controversial series of ads focused on an "Apple Genius". That ad debuted during the opening ceremonies for the summer Olympics and were sharply criticized. Those are ads no longer running which Apple's ad agency claims was the plan all along.

iOS 6 Beta 4 Removes Dedicated YouTube App [Updated]

As noted by several users in our forum, Apple's new iOS 6 Beta 4 just released to developers removes the dedicated YouTube app that has been included on the iPhone operating system since its launch in 2007.

The reason for the removal is unclear, although speculation naturally turns to the strained relationship between Apple and Google. Aside from YouTube, Apple's iOS 6 contains another high-profile departure from Google's services with Apple rolling out its own mapping and navigation service to displace Google.

YouTube videos can still be played through the embedded viewer, but the removal of the dedicated YouTube app marks a significant reduction in the prominence of Google on iOS.

UpdateThe Verge reports that Apple has issued a statement acknowledging the removal.
Our license to include the YouTube app in iOS has ended, customers can use YouTube in the Safari browser and Google is working on a new YouTube app to be on the App Store.
Update: Peter Kafka from All Things D passes on this statement from YouTube:
We are working with Apple to make sure we have the best possible YouTube experience for iOS users.

Aerial Photos of Recent Work at Apple's North Carolina Data Center

Several weeks ago, we noted that Apple was already undertaking a minor expansion of its massive data center in Maiden, North Carolina, having received permits for a roughly 20,000 square-foot "tactical data center" located adjacent to the existing 500,000 square-foot facility.

Wired has now obtained aerial photos of the site taken earlier this week, showing not only the new tactical data center but also ongoing installation of solar panels at the 100-acre solar farm across the street from the data center and what appears to be the 4.8-megawatt fuel cell facility behind the data center.
Nobody knows exactly what an Apple tactical data center is supposed to be, but according to Rackspace Chief Technology Officer John Engates, who has spent his fair share of time in windowless buildings racked with servers, it may be a neutral spot where Apple partners can come and plug their gear into Apple’s grid without getting any exposure to the fantastic secrets housed in the larger 500,000-square-foot facility.

iOS vs Android ( Intro)

Some time back we published about our  much anticipated cat fight between world's two leading Operating Systems ( iOS and Android).

As you may be familiar with our post which stated an Unbiased Result, both candidates will be seen with equal eye. It is difficult to make such kind of judgements because if you point out more cons or pros of one candidate or visa versa,  then people regard you as a fan boy .  So we will do our best, this was just a brief of the actual cat fight. cat- fight is coming soon so stay tune.

Save the date: Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012 IFA event set for August 29th

Save the date Samsung starts sending out Mobile Unpacked 2012 invites
You know it's nearly time for IFA 2012 when Samsung starts sending out the Mobile Unpacked invites. The event, famous for launching the phablet-defining Galaxy Note just one year ago, is scheduled to take place on August 29th and should see the official unveiling of that smartphone inbetweener's successor. Though leaked details of a Note sequel have been scarce, we do have one slight indicator of what's to come: benchmarks for a mysterious GT-N7100. If those test results are to be believed, we could be in store for a device refresh that packs the same processing powers of the Galaxy S III -- quad-core Exynos bumped to 1.6GHz and Mali 400 GPU -- along with the OEM's bevy of Smart functions and, most notably, a stylus upgrade. Of course, the company could very well have other surprises up its sleeve, but given its penchant for extensive security measures, we'll just have to wait to find out.

Sharp: we're making displays for new iPhone and shipping them this month

Sharp we're making displays for new iPhone and shipping them this month
In an effort to end today's dismal earnings report on a high, Sharp's president Takashi Okuda has purposefully let slip that his company is among those contracted to manufacture displays for a new iPhone. We already have numerous reasons to suspect the iPhone 5 will be announced around September 12th, and Okuda has now corroborated that by saying that "shipments will start in August." If earlier rumors and component leaks are to be trusted, the screen will be significantly larger (likely around 4-inches) and slightly less rotund than that on the iPhone 4S.

iPhone 5 Will Have 8-pin Dock Connector, Report Says

We’ve heard reports that the iPhone 5 and future iPads will have a 19-pin Dock Connector that will replace the current 30-pin port. Not so, iLounge said in a report Wednesday. The site claims that Apple will actually implement an 8-pin connector instead.
“Although the original Dock Connector contained 30 pins, reports of 16- or 19-pin connectors seemed hard to square with the port’s small size and Apple’s actual need for additional pins beyond what USB/Micro-USB offer,” iLounge claims in its report. The site also said that Apple may indeed change the name of the “Dock Connector” to something else entirely.
Here’s another awesome leak from iLounge that we’re digging today: apparently Apple is working on a link that syncs up iOS 6 with Bluetooth 4. The technology could potentially allow other iOS 6-powered devices to display messages from your iPhone. So, for example, if you’re running, your iPod nano might display iMessages or email alerts. The tech could also allow you to initiate a phone call from an iPod touch, an iPad or an iPod nano. This feature hasn’t been discussed by Apple, which revealed iOS 6 during its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, so it’s possible it will never come to fruition.

Nintendo to launch red, blue DSi devices 'as early as this week'

The red and blue DSis.
(Credit: Nintendo)
Nintendo's DSi has been overshadowed by the company's 3DS, but that doesn't mean the company will leave the DSi in the dark.
The game maker announced today a "color refresh" for its DSi, and will soon launch both red and blue matte-finish DSi devices.
Nintendo's DSi was a predecessor to the company's latest handheld, the 3DS. The DSi comes with the same dual-screen design and offers both front- and rear-facing cameras. Unlike the 3DS, however, it doesn't come with glasses-less 3D support.
Earlier this year, Nintendo dropped the price of the DSi to $99 from the earlier $149. The DSi XL, which delivers the same device with larger screens, was brought down to $129.
According to Nintendo, the new red and blue DSi handhelds can be found at retailers "as early as this week." Nintendo already sells several other colors, including black, pink, and a much lighter blue.
